Jaipur September 7th

Next destination, Jaipur! The capital of Rajasthan and nick named “Pink city”. A city packed with things to see so instead of the usual visit on foot my friend and I decided to hire a tuk tuk driver for the day. Great decision in hindsight.

To get to Jaipur I take my first Indian train at 6:00 a.m…. Starting to be a habit to get up at unhealthy hours 🙂

Delhi Train Station

Happy I booked my ticket before hand. Seems like the waiting list is long…

Rush before departure.

Superb service! Much needed caffeine boost.

Really tasty croquettes

Jantar Mantar Observatory

Gigantic sundial.

Mini sundials for each astrological sign. Guess which sign I belong to 🙂

A component of the sundial.

Soldiers taking refuge from the beating sun.

Hawa Mahal Palace

Wow! So many windows. Apparently it was to allow be able to people gaze without being noticed.

Superb craftsmanship to make such beautiful doors.

Jal Mahal Floating Palace

Random girl posing for another cameraman.

One way to escape the scorching sun 🙂

Amber Palace and Jaigarth Fort

Right place at the right time with a camera. Kodak moment.

No the security guard was not posing for me 🙂

Getting closer to the desert.

Beautiful fort but ended up not going as it was seriously far from where we were. Leaving something for next time I come.

Stepwell

Reminds me of M. C. Escher’s work.

Care for a dip?

Gaitor Ki Chhatriyan Royal Crematory

One of my favorite temples so far. Incredibly beautiful, calm and hardly anybody in it!

Streets

City gates to the pink city.

I spy with my little eye…. a camel!

Tuk tuk

My Tuk tuk driver and friend Sunny. His moto was “I’m Sunny funny!” Great company and did a fantastic job showing us around.
