Pushkar September 9th to 10th
September 23, 2018
As I head to Jaipur train station, with “Despacito” song blaring out of the bluetooth speakers installed in the Tuk tuk, I realise that I am truly fulfilling a long life dream. Feeling ecstatic!
Upon arrival at the station the driver asks me if I have a foreign bank note for him to keep as he is collector. Not sure whether it was a scam but guess what I find in my pocket… a 1000 vietnamese dong note from my trip to Vietnam 3 years ago! I hand him over the note. His expression was priceless ๐
I hop on to my train where I meet Guillaume, a french guy who is also doing a 1 year world trip. We hit it off and chat throughout the journey.ย Before we know it we arrive in Ajmer. From Ajmer to Pushkar we share an Uber with a Belgian couple from Gent whom we bumped into the station. Ahhh so much less hassle than haggling with tuk tuk drivers…
As tradition dictates, having settled in my hostel I take my camera and set off to get lost…
Train Station Jaipur
In India there is always something to look at, even in the train station.. Front carriage seems to be transporting courier packages. Interesting how they haul the bags using a metal hook.
Cleaning crew.
Sneeky picture…
Streets
I think it was a sewer service crew.
A glimpse into someone’s home.
Cows, cows and more cows ๐
First donkey encounter!
Seems like cats are rare in Rajasthan. Lots of street dogs though. Maybe the reason?
I guess I won’t be going that way…
Love the style of the old man in orange ๐
Rush hour to go to the ghat for the daily ritual.
Big ants in India!
Sculptor working with black rock. Having chissled the shape he then carefully and meticulously polishes them with wet sand paper. 3 days work for a small piece, 5 days for a big piece. Incredible talent! Apparently his son isย following his footsteps.
Some of his work
The best avocado falafel roll I have had! Had it 3 times while I was there.
Ghat
Daily ritual at the ghat.
That tree reminds me of the one in the intro of Game of Thrones ๐

Second day in Pushkar, I decide to wonder further away and hire a motorcycle. Love riding! Lots of cows on the road.
